Interfaith Worker Justice invites graduate students from all faith traditions to submit a paper proposal for an Interfaith Theological Symposium on Economic Justice. This symposium will feature leading scholars within the field of economic and worker justice. It will be held at DePaul University in Chicago, IL from June 18-19, 2011 in conjunction with the Interfaith Worker Justice’s 15th Anniversary Conference which takes place June 19-21, 2011.
Participating students will benefit from engaging with leading scholars on faith and economic justice. All accepted papers will be published in brief in the symposium booklet and in full length online. Paper topics from all religious disciplines are welcome, but must address the question, “What within your faith tradition inspires a commitment to worker justice?” Keynote speakers include: Dr. Miguel De La Torre, Dr. Tex Sample, Dr. Ched Myers, Mr. Hussam Ayloush and Rabbi Jill Jacobs.
The top paper submission will be given the Brueggemann Award in Economic Justice, with a monetary gift of $150, and invited as a key presenter on the panel “Re-imagining Worker Justice Ministry in the 21st Century” during the full IWJ conference. The runner-up will receive a monetary award of $50.

Proposals must have a clear research topic, title and a 100 word abstract. Students must include a brief bio which describes their current academic program.
Final papers due: May 1, 2011
