Students: New Arrangement for Breakfast with a Scholar

In the past, students have paid a highly subsidized rate of $8 for this popular event. For 2010, students will be charged $23 when they register for the Breakfast with a Scholar, and $15 of that will be reimbursed, in cash, at the time of the breakfast. So the net cost will remain $8. Why this new arrangement? Last year there too many students who registered but never showed for the event. The SCE paid the balance for breakfasts which were not eaten. The SCE is happy to subsidize the student events but we need to avoid wasting of food and dollars.
