The basic premis of new catholic times sensus fidelium is that the People of God need a place where dialogue can continue; where the Spirit-filled wisdom of the People of God can be heard. La esperanza vive! Our aim is simple: to analyze and report on the world and the Canadian Church through those cardinal lens of the Common Good and from the vantage point of the poor in whom Jesus especially abides. http://www.newcatholictimes.com/  --Posted 4-30-08

Call for Papers: Societas Ethica’s Annual Conference in Lammi (Finland), 20 to 24 August 2008 will focus on life-science, ethics and society. It is expected that the impact of the life-sciences will be enormous. Steps are taken towards a more sustainable biobased economy based upon renewable resources like biofuels. Waste-management and environmental cleaning technologies will help to reduce our ecological food-print and to save the environment. And fundamental biological knowledge of human biology will help to fight diseases and to improve and prolong human life. The promise, however, of this biotopia is not without problems. As a European society for research in ethics, the Societas Ethica invites ethicists from all disciplines to contribute to the discussion of this year’s theme. Each presentation will be limited to twenty minutes maximum, to be followed by a discussion of thirty minutes. Papers may be given in English, French or German. Selected papers will be published in the annual volume of the Societas Ethica, in the society’s series published by Lit Verlag, and in the Journal of Ethical Theory and Moral Practice. Abstracts' deadline was 30 April 2008. Please send questions to celine.EhrweinNihan@unil.ch or to postal address: Societas Ethica, Centre lémanique d'éthique, Bâtiment Provence – Bureau 402, Université CH – 1015 Lausanne.
