Guidelines: Interest and Working Group
- Every effort will be made to meet requests from Interest Groups for an assigned place on the program. However, given the number of Interest Groups and space limitations, there is no guarantee that all Interest Groups will be accommodated.
- An Interest Group wishing to meet at the next Annual Meeting must submit a proposal to the Program Committee by the deadline for the Call for Proposals. This proposal must include a report of the previous year’s activity. The report is necessary for the proposal to be considered.
- Preference for inclusion on the Program will be given to those groups whose proposal and report are concrete, focused, and promise to promote sustained dialogue.
- Interest Groups preferring to meet during a concurrent session must submit proposals to be rated and judged along with all other proposals.Proposals for evening Interest Group sessions are not rated and judged, but evaluated only according to (2) and (3) above.
- Interest Groups traditionally have met during evening slots, but may apply to meet during one of the seven concurrent sessions. However, Interest Groups and Working Groups together will be allocated a maximum of two program slots during any one concurrent session.
- The Interest Group proposal for a concurrent session must include:
- Title for the Interest Group
- Name of and contact information for the Convener/s of the Interest Group
- Detailed description of their proposed meeting – specific purpose, topic, and speaker/s
- A report on the work of the Interest Group at the previous Annual Meeting: the number of participants, the general nature of the dialogue, and any specific decisions made by the Group.
- Interest Groups in the evening may invite non-members to present.
- There is no obligation for an interest group to continue meeting from year to year. Interest groups which desire to go out of existence are kindly requested to notify the Executive Director in writing.
- An interest group which fails to submit a report/proposal for three years consecutively will have to resubmit an application.
